Among state taxes, the new GST would cover VAT and sales tax, entertainment tax, luxury tax, taxes on lottery, betting and gambling, besides state cesses and surcharges relating to supply of goods and services. Among central taxes, service tax, excise duties, import duties and central cesses and surcharges relating to supply of goods and services would be subsumed under GST.
