World military expenditure rose by 3.7% in 2022 to reach a record high of $2,240 billion, according to Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). It named the USA as the top military spender ($877 billion), followed by China ($292 billion), Russia ($86.4 billion), India ($81.4 billion) and Saudi Arabia ($75 billion). India's military spending was 6% more than in 2021.
