Survival drama '2018' has been selected as India's official entry for Oscars 2024. As many as 22 films were reportedly considered before picking the Malayalam film. These included 'The Storyteller', 'Music School', 'Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway', '12th Fail', 'Viduthalai Part 1', 'Ghoomer', and 'Dasara'. Other films reportedly included 'Vaalvi', 'Ab Toh Sab Bhagwan Bharose' and 'Baap Lyok'.
