Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned as Vice President (VP) mid-term, citing medical advice on Monday. The first VP to do so was VV Giri, after then-President Zakir Hussain's death in May 1969. R Venkataraman, Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma and K R Narayanan also resigned as VPs after they were elected Presidents. VP Bhairon Singh Shekhawat resigned after losing the presidential elections.
