Syrian first Lady Asma al-Assad has been diagnosed with an aggressive leukemia or blood cancer, the president's office has revealed. According to a government statement, British-born Asma is battling acute myeloid leukemia - a cancer of the white blood cells involved in battling infection. Doctors say that she will undergo a specialised treatment protocol that requires social distancing.
