Who have been exempted from US' travel ban on India?

After imposing a travel ban on India amid COVID-19, the US State Department has said that certain categories of students, academics, journalists and individuals may qualify for a National Interest Exception (NIE). Students with valid F-1 and M-1 visas intending to begin or continue a program commencing August 1 or later don't need to contact embassy or consulate for NIE.
