Indian-origin Anita Anand, the 54-year-old who's Canada's new Minister of Defence, is of Tamilian-Punjabi heritage as her father was from Tamil Nadu and her mother was from Punjab. She has worked as a scholar, lawyer, and researcher. She holds a BA in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford, a Master of Laws from the University of Toronto and other degrees.
