Constable Purnam Kumar Shaw, hailing from Hooghly, West Bengal, was on his first deployment at the India-Pakistan border in Ferozepur. Part of BSF’s 182nd Battalion, Shaw was stationed near Mamdot block. Young and newly posted, he was tasked with protecting Indian farmers during harvest, a mission that would unexpectedly place him in Pakistani custody.
