Colonel Sapna Rana, from Himachal's Bhawanipur, became the state's first-ever woman to lead the Indian Army Service Corps battalion. Before joining the army, she used to do all the daily chores like milking buffaloes, chopping cattle-feed, among others. Without any Army lineage, she became a Lieutenant in 2004 and then over the years earned numerous commendations.
