Who is Gadi Eisenkot, the ex-army chief challenging Netanyahu?

Gadi Eisenkot, who was Israel's army chief from 2015 to 2019, leads the Yashar party, which led PM Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud in the final TV polls, according to Haaretz. He left Benny Gantz's party in 2025 and founded Yashar that September. Eisenkot told 103FM he would not serve under Netanyahu, "not even in a rotation agreement".
