Hossam Hassan, who accused FIFA of bias towards Argentina after Egypt's 2-3 Round of 16 defeat at FIFA World Cup 2026, was appointed Egypt head coach in 2024. The 59-year-old is Egypt's all-time leading scorer with 69 international goals. He made 177 appearances, played at 1990 World Cup and won three Africa Cup of Nations titles (1986, 1998 and 2006).
