Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman, a career diplomat with more than 30 years of UN experience, became president of the 81st UN General Assembly after winning 99 of 190 votes. His 2026–27 agenda spans peace, sustainable development, climate, human rights, AI governance and UN reform under the theme “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation."
