Laurent Mekies, who has replaced Christian Horner as team principal of the Red Bull F1 team, was born in 1977 in Tours, France. He studied mechanical engineering at ESTACA in Paris before completing a master's degree at Loughborough. Mekies worked in F1 with Arrows, Minardi, Toro Rosso, Ferrari and Racing Bulls, and also served as Safety Director at FIA.
