Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate sparked controversy by claiming farmers misused crop loan funds for weddings and engagements. An NCP leader, Kokate has represented Nashik's Sinnar constituency five times and serves in the Devendra Fadnavis-led government. In the 2024 elections, he secured a big win, defeating NCP (SP) leader Uday Sangale by a significant margin.
