Robert Francis Prevost is the first pope from North America, the first Augustinian to occupy the throne of Peter, and the first native English-speaker to do so since Adrian IV in the 12th century. He was born in Chicago in 1955 and has administered communities in more than 50 countries. He was appointed Bishop of Chiclayo, Peru, earlier this year.
