Ryan Wesley Routh, the 58-year-old suspect arrested for assassination attempt on Donald Trump, is a former construction worker. Routh, who has no military background, told NYT in 2023 that he had travelled to Ukraine and wanted to recruit Afghan soldiers to fight there. In the past, Trump called for Russia and Ukraine to negotiate a deal and stop the war.
