Shubhangi Swaroop who was inducted as the Indian Navy's first woman pilot on Thursday will be trained at the Air Force Academy at Hyderabad which trains pilots for the Army, Navy, and Air Force. She hails from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh and is the daughter of Naval Commander Gyan Swaroop. She is expected to fly maritime reconnaissance aircraft.

The government has clarified that the claims it is considering levying GST on UPI transactions over ₹2,000 are completely false, misleading, and without any basis. It said that no such proposal is under consideration and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting digital payments through UPI. Reports had claimed that government was contemplating 18% GST on UPI transactions above ₹2,000.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is planning to scrap the current rule that requires students to have studied Physics and Math in Class 12 to be eligible for commercial pilot licence training. In India, commercial pilot training has been restricted to Science and Math students since the mid-1990s, as per Times of India.

The government on Friday said, "Some reports have said that a Satellite-based Tolling System will be launched from May 1, 2025, and will replace the existing FASTag-based toll collection system nationwide." It clarified, "No such decision has been taken by NHAI or Transport Ministry." The government said 'ANPR-FASTag-based Barrier-Less Tolling System' will be implemented at selected toll plazas.

India on Friday rejected remarks by Bangladesh officials on West Bengal violence during protests over the Waqf Act. Ministry of External Affairs said the remarks were "a barely disguised and disingenuous attempt to draw a parallel with India's concerns over...persecution of minorities in Bangladesh". "Bangladesh would do better to focus on protecting the rights of its own minorities," it added.

Union Minister for Space and Technology Jitendra Singh said Gaganyatri, or astronaut-designate, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla will fly to the International Space Station next month. Green has been out with injury since last October, and last played first-class cricket in March 2024. Several fans pointed that MI spinner Vignesh Puthur's back foot also came into contact with return crease.
