Before being chosen as Kerala CM on Thursday, Congress leader VD Satheesan served as Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly from 2021 to 2026. A lawyer by profession, he has been a six-time MLA from Paravur and has previously served as Vice President of the Kerala Congress. He is widely credited for leading the UDF's 2026 electoral comeback.
