Gyanendra Shah, the former King of Nepal accused of inciting recent pro-monarchy protests in the country that killed two people, assumed the throne in 2002. In 2005, he seized absolute power and disbanded the parliament and government. Shah was previously accused of plotting his family's massacre, which was carried out by his nephew Crown Prince Dipendra on June 1, 2001.
