Surgical removal of the gallbladder (cholecystectomy) becomes risky when patients have decompensated liver cirrhosis, coagulopathy, unstable cardiopulmonary status or active abdominal infection. Dr Neha notes these conditions increase complications such as bleeding, bile-duct injury, poor healing or anaesthesia intolerance, often making non-surgical options preferable.
