Anna Jarvis was an American activist who founded Mother's Day in 1908 to honour her mother Ann Reeves Jarvis and all mothers. Ann Reeves spent her life working for causes centred around motherhood including the prevention of child mortality and had a desire for the establishment of such a holiday. Anna managed to fulfil her mother's wish after her death.
