Citing Aruna Shanbaug's example while hearing Kolkata doctor's rape-murder case, SC said patients' relatives attack women doctors due to patriarchal biases. Shanbaug, a nurse at Mumbai's KEM Hospital, was sexually assaulted by a ward attendant in 1973. The attack left her in a vegetative state for 42 years until she died in 2015. Her attacker served seven years in prison.
