Bitan Adhikari, a resident of Kolkata's Patuli, was travelling with wife Sohini and son in Pahalgam when terrorists opened fire. A soft-spoken man known for his generosity, Bitan worked in a private firm and often spoke of Kashmir as a dream destination. Sohini recalled how Bitan shielded his son during the attack. “He died protecting us,” she said in tears.
