Who was Jam Sahib, the Maharaj who protected Polish children?

During World War II, when much of the world shut its doors, Maharaja Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja also known as Jam Sahib of Nawanagar (now Jamnagar) opened his heart. He sheltered hundreds of Polish children who had lost their families, homes and homeland. His compassion saved a generation. Even today, Poland remembers him with memorials, a school and a square named “The Good Maharaja.”
