A man had halted the movement of tanks ordered to kill student protesters during the 1989 pro-democracy protests in China's Tiananmen Square on June 5. The 19-year-old, better known as the 'Tank Man', was identified by a British publication as Wang Weilin. He had halted the tanks by displaying his palm and climbed up the front of the lead tank.
