Why all snowflakes have six sides?

Snowflakes contain six sides or points due to the way in which they form. Water molecules, made of oxygen and hydrogen have a fixed shape and join together in a hexagonal pattern to form ice crystals. As the snowflake grows based on temperature and available water, it branches into complex dendrites while maintaining the six sides.
