Why are prenuptial agreements not legally recognised in India?

As per experts, prenuptial agreement is a contract made before marriage to decide property division and child-related arrangements in case of divorce. In India, such agreements are not considered legally valid because marriage is treated as a sacrament rather than contract. The concept is discussed in the context of increasing divorce cases, but it has no formal legal recognition under Indian law.
