Sikkimese people are exempted from paying tax on income derived from any source in state of Sikkim and on dividend or interest on securities. The exemption was provided after Sikkim's tax laws, under which residents of Sikkim didn't pay tax, were repealed in 2008. It is applicable to people domiciled in Sikkim prior to its merger with India, among others.
