Why astronomers renamed Uranus after its first name caused uproar

Uranus was initially named “Georgium Sidus” after King George III by its discoverer, William Herschel, but the name stirred controversy for breaking mythological tradition and injecting politics into science. German astronomer Johann Elert Bode later proposed “Uranus” following Greek mythology, which became the accepted name by 1850, shaping modern astronomical naming conventions.
