As the no-nonsense boss of 99th precinct, Holt served as the perfect foil to goofy antics of Jake Peralta. Far from stereotypical stern authority figure, he broke mould of a gay man who embraces his identity with pride. His love for his corgi, Cheddar, demonstrated his softer side, while his appreciation for John Sousa's music added a touch of whimsy.
