A strategic analysis of more than 11 million STEM papers by IIM Bangalore and Shiv Nadar University reveals that corporate presence in a scientific field alters innovation and discoveries. While industry involvement increases the frequency and breadth of new ideas, it shrinks the conceptual distance of research, steering scientists away from risky, radical breakthroughs, says the new study.
