Why did French actor Arnaud Denis die by euthanasia at 43?

French actor and director Arnaud Denis chose euthanasia in Belgium on September 22, 2026, to end unmanageable suffering following a July 2023 groin hernia surgery. A polypropylene mesh implant triggered severe chronic pain, an inflammatory immune response and myalgic encephalomyelitis. Finding no medical relief, even after having the mesh removed in the US, he sought assisted dying.
