Google was born in August 1998 when Sun Microsystems Co-founder Andy Bechtolsheim wrote Larry Page and Sergey Brin a $100,000 cheque. However, in early 2000s, Google used to mark its birthday on different dates in September, and eventually settled on September 27 from 2006. This was done possibly to commemorate a major web indexing achievement that happened around this date.
