Former Indian boxer Mary Kom, who had won the bronze medal in the 2012 London Olympics, decided to step down as the Chef-de-Mission of the Indian contingent for the Paris Olympics 2024 because of personal reasons. "It is embarrassing to retreat from a commitment...but I am left with no choice," she stated. Gagan Narang was named as Mary's replacement.
