Why do old people have big ears and noses?

A video explains why the nose and ears that are made of elastic cartilage, a type of connective tissue, appear noticeably larger on older people. The cartilage, once broken down, ends up becoming harder and droopier. As people age, the cartilage thus breaks down, sags, and enlarges as compared to the more repairable skin such as lips, eyes, and forehead.
