Why do people laugh when someone falls?

According to a psychiatrist and laughter researcher who served at Stanford University, when people see someone stumble and fall, some of their own brain cells (mirror neurons) act as if they are stumbling too. The researcher said that this little "copying effect" gives our brain a tiny, unconscious tickle, which makes the moment feel funnier.
