Constitution Day is celebrated every year on November 26 to commemorate the day the Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. It was celebrated as Law Day before the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment announced the decision to call it Constitution Day to foster constitutional values among citizens. The Constitution came into effect on 26 January 1950.
