Why don't we have a solar eclipse every month?

The moon's orbit is tilted, changing the placement of its shadow, according to NASA. Sometimes the shadow is too high above Earth and sometimes the shadow is too low. To have an eclipse, it must just be right. It doesn't block out the Sun on every orbit, that's why not every new moon results in a solar eclipse.
