Why has Britain's grass turned yellow?

Grass across Britain has turned yellow after England and Wales recorded their driest July ever. Frequent droughts/heatwaves have left lawns without enough water. While grass can survive dry spells by shutting down and protecting its growing parts, prolonged drought dries and kills outer leaves. Grass may recover when rain returns, but experts warn yellow-summers may become more common in future.
