Why has Pakistan not been able to join BRICS?

The expansion of BRICS is based on consensus, meaning every existing member must agree to the admission of a new country. Pakistan, which applied for BRICS membership in 2023, has not been able to join BRICS despite Russia and China's support because of India's opposition. India has repeatedly cited its concerns about Pakistan and its support for terrorism.
