Why has the Japanese yen been falling against the US dollar?

Japanese yen has been at its weakest in real terms since 1970s. Bank of Japan's (BOJ) low interest rate has been one of the factors for a weak yen. BOJ hasn't hinted at future rate hikes either. Additionally, yen's fall, which started in 2021, has discouraged exporters from converting foreign proceeds into yen and encouraged financial institutions to invest abroad.
