Why is Earth witnessing equal day & night durations today?
short by Hiral / on Sunday, 22 September, 2024
The Earth experienced equal durations of day and night on Sunday (September 22), marking the autumnal equinox. An equinox occurs due to the Earth's 23.5-degree tilt on its axis which causes Northern and Southern Hemispheres to receive different amounts of sunlight throughout the year. During an equinox, which happens twice a year, the Sun's rays fall directly on the equator.
