Honduras has threatened to end military ties with the US if President-elect Donald Trump's plans to carry out mass deportations of refugees and asylum seekers from Central America, including thousands of Hondurans, are implemented. "For decades, [US has maintained military bases on our territory] without paying a cent..which would [now] lose all reason to exist," President Xiomara Castro said.
