Why is India’s country code +91 and Pakistan’s +92?

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a United Nations agency, has divided the world into 9 zones. It assigns each nation a 1-4 digit country code based on its influence in the telecommunications union and population size. Some ex: +1 USA, +44 UK, +91 India, and +92 Pakistan.
