National Engineers' Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya on September 15. It is observed to honour his achievements and the contributions of engineers to society. Visvesvaraya was a civil engineer who is credited with the construction of Krishna Raja Sagara dam in Mysore. He was awarded Bharat Ratna in 1955 for his contributions to engineering.
