Sabang port, which India and Indonesia have agreed to jointly develop, would enhance India's ability to secure critical sea lanes and counter China's growing influence in the Indo-Pacific. Situated near Strait of Malacca and just 160 km from India's Great Nicobar Island Project, the deepwater port can also host naval vessels, including submarines, boosting India's maritime reach in the region.
