Why is Samsung India laying off employees?

Samsung India is cutting jobs as surging memory chip prices, a weaker rupee, declining smartphone volumes and rising raw-material costs squeeze margins. The company is also restructuring its TV and home appliance operations, merging branches and reducing management layers. Around 80-100 executives have reportedly been asked to leave, with another round of cuts possible after Diwali.
