Why is stock market crashing today?

Indian shares plunged on Monday as Sensex crashed over 1,000 points, erasing investor wealth worth ₹6 lakh crore. Investor sentiments weakened majorly due to oil prices crossing the $106/barrel mark. Expensive oil can push up India's import bill and raise inflation while putting pressure on the rupee. Foreign investors offloading equities worth ₹3,696 crore on Friday also contributed to crash.
