A new study across three Indian states, Karnataka, Assam, and Uttarakhand, integrates behavioural psychology and social values to show that purely biological approaches miss the human element in studies. To save the Mahseer, India must pivot away from distant bureaucracy and toward giving local tribes actual decision-making authority.
