Why is there no athletes' village at Asian Games 2026?

There is no traditional athletes’ village at Asian Games 2026 because organisers chose a cheaper, more flexible accommodation model. The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) said building a permanent village risked becoming an expensive "white elephant" after the Games. Around 17,000 athletes and officials are instead being housed across hotels, temporary wooden units and cruise ship in Nagoya.
